A recent round of recalls was just released from GM that continues their string of recalls into the new year. In addition to faulty ignition switches that have caused a multitude of deaths and injuries, GM has recalled over 28 million vehicles since the beginning of 2014.
This most recent recall affects over 90,000 vehicles and is for a defect in the ignition lock systems that can cause issues in hot weather. If the ignition lock were to malfunction or lock up while the vehicle was in motion, it would cause a loss of steering, engine, and brake power, which could lead to devastating accidents and injuries.
The vehicles involved in this recall were made between 2007 and 2014 and include the following:
- Chevrolet Silverado light-duty and heavy-duty
- GMC Sierra light-duty and heavy-duty
- Yukon XL
- Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT
