More than 20,000 gas dryers sold at Sears under the LG Electronics and Kenmore labels have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The LG and Kenmore dryer recall affects approximately 21,000 gas dryers. The gas valve on the dryers may fail to shut off properly and allow the dryer to continue heating after it completes its cycle; this can cause high temperatures inside the dryers as well as on the exterior of the dryers. According to the CPSC website, LG Electronics and Sears have received more than 140 consumer complaints about the problem, including instances of scorched clothing and minor burns to hands and arms.
