More than 20,000 gas dryers sold at Sears under the LG Electronics and Kenmore labels have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). If you were injured by one of the dryers detailed below or another defective consumer product, the Mobile, Alabama, product liability attorneys at Long & Long may be able to help you recover financial compensation for resulting medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and property damage. The LG and Kenmore dryer recall affects approximately 21,000 gas dryers. The gas valve on the dryers may fail to shut off properly and allow the dryer to continue heating after it completes its cycle; this can cause high temperatures inside the dryers as well as on the exterior of the dryers. According to the CPSC website, LG Electronics and Sears have received more than 140 consumer complaints about the problem, including instances of scorched clothing and minor burns to hands and arms. The recalled dryers include LG Electronics dryers with model numbers:

  • DLG0452W
  • DLG1320W
  • DLG2051W

Also recalled are Kenmore Elite dryers with the following model numbers:

  • 796.90512900
  • 796.90518900
  • 796.91022900
  • 796.91028900
  • 796.91029900
  • 796.92192900
  • 796.92198900
  • 796.92199900

For a complete list of serial numbers included in the recall, please see the dryer recall page on the CPSC website.
