Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman was initially listed in serious condition in a Memphis hospital after being involved in a car accident Sunday night in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. Tallahatchie is about 100 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee. At the time of the accident, Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima belonging to Demaris Meyer of Memphis when the car left the road and flipped several times just around midnight. According to a Mississippi highway patrolman, alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The Jaws of Life had to be used to extract Freeman from the vehicle. His female passenger’s condition has not been released. Both people were wearing their seatbelts. At the time of the extraction, Freeman was lucid and was even joking with some of the rescue workers.
