Four national retailers have agreed to voluntarily recall more than 150,000 Nap Nanny baby recliners in the wake of at least five infant deaths after the manufacturer of the baby seats declined to participate, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). If your child was injured or killed by a Nap Nanny baby recliner, the Mobile, Alabama, product liability attorneys at Long & Long are here to help you pursue the financial compensation you need and achieve the justice you deserve. We are proud to serve as advocates for innocent consumers harmed by defective products. Toys R Us/Babies R Us, Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby and Diapers.com have agreed to recall more than 150,000 Nap Nanny baby recliners because the maker, Baby Matters LLC, was unable or unwilling to participate. According to an Associated Press article, the company has gone out of business, although a statement from Baby Matters owner and founder Leslie Gudel said it didn’t believe the CPSC complaints had merit. The CPSC has received reports of at least five deaths and numerous reports of injuries associated with the Nap Nanny seats. The CPSC previously warned parents and guardians that the Nap Nanny had design defects, as well as problems with its warnings and instructions. The voluntary retailer recall affects generations one and two of the Nap Nanny and Chill model baby recliners sold between 2009 and 2012. Photos and information on the affected products can be seen on the CPSC Nap Nanny recall page. Consumers with Nap Nanny seats should stop using them immediately. According to the CPSC, the products pose “a substantial risk of injury and death to infants.” If you were harmed or a family member died due to a defective product, please contact Long & Long for your free case consultation.
