Approximately 795,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers sold at Sears and Kmart stores due to a fire and burn risk to consumers, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The dehumidifier recall affects five model numbers in three different sizes marketed by Kenmore and manufactured by LG Electronics between 2003 and 2005. The model numbers and sizes are:
- 580.54351400 (35-pint)
- 580.53509300 (50-pint)
- 580.53701300 (70-pint)
- 580.54701400 (70-pint)
- 580.54701500 (70-pint)
The dehumidifiers have white plastic bodies and stand between 21 and 24 inches tall with front-loading water reservoirs. The model numbers are located on the right interior panel of the units and are visible when the water bucket is removed.
The dehumidifiers may overheat, generate smoke, melt and catch fire. The CPSC recall notice states that there have been at least 107 reports of incidents causing smoke inhalation injuries and more than $7 million in property damage.
