Working in a kitchen is a fast-paced and high-stress environment – sometimes accidents can occur. One particular Applebee’s in California may want to reevaluate its pace after a work injury caused an employee to cut off the tip of his finger while working. Rather than halting operation the restaurant continued service and inadvertently served the tip to a woman in her Chinese chicken salad. Now the woman is seeking unspecified damages for emotional distress, medical expenses for testing and lost income.
The incident occurred in December 2015. The victim claimed she did not notice the fingertip was there until after she and her family had eaten some of the salad. “It was so gross,” the woman, who is pregnant, said. “I’m on pins and needles worrying about what my family might have been exposed to.”
While the injured employee has agreed to undergo tests to prove he has no serious medical conditions, this woman could win damages if her lawyer makes a compelling case.
